Kemp Harris

Kemp joined the board in May of 2021. He is a composer, musician, children’s author, actor and educator. Kemp retired after 38 years as a Kindergarten teacher in the Newton Public Schools, but continues performing for children as a storyteller. He has also appeared on WGBH “Stories From The Stage” series. Born in North Carolina, Kemp taught himself piano and was writing songs at age 14. He has composed for various groups, including The Alvin Ailey Dance Company. He continues to perform concerts with his band, The Kemp Harris Group. Kemp is happy to be a member of the Passim community.
