    FAQ

  1. How can I get a gig at Club Passim?

Due to the large volume of requests that we receive, we are not able to offer bookings to everyone who contacts us.

If you send us your materials, we will keep them on file and will contact you if we would like to schedule you for a date at the Club. Generally speaking, we book about five months out from the current date. Please note, we cannot respond to all booking inquiries.

Do take advantage of area open mics, clubs, and radio shows, and keep us apprised of your performances. Also, make sure you familiarize yourself with our calendar before submitting music. Club Passim does present a wide range of musical genres on our stage, but we feature predominantly acoustic performances. Club Passim also has several opportunities for developing artists, including opening slots and the campfire. festival.

  2. Does Club Passim have an Open Mic?

Yes, we have an open mic series that has both virtual and in-person performances. See passim.org/openmic for details.

  3. If I get a gig at Club Passim, then what do I need to do next?

    1. Make sure that you post the correct information about your show(s). Make sure to post your showtime correctly, as the start times of our shows do vary. Also, make sure that you include the correct contact information for Club Passim, especially as we are in Cambridge, not Boston.

Be sure to make extensive use of all social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.). Link up with our pages, as well! Make sure to add bloggers to your contacts for press releases.

    3. Schedule radio interviews on WERS, WUMB, WGBH, WBUR, WMFO, WMBR, and other area radio stations on the day of your performance or during the week prior to the performance.

Remember, there is no one way to reach the public. Club Passim will do its best to promote each and every show, but we need your help. The most successful shows are marketed via a combination of these approaches.

  4. What is campfire. festival?

Our campfire. festivals are held over Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekends (Fri.-Mon.) The festivals incorporate around 75 acts playing solo, in-the-round, and band sets.

The campfire. festival is a great opportunity to introduce yourself or your band to the Boston area. It also is a great way to build your email list, sell CDs, and meet and collaborate with artists from around the country. Many of our regular headliners at Club Passim got their start at campfire. festival. Booking for the Memorial Day festival starts mid-March and booking for Labor Day event starts at the beginning of June. If you would like to play at campfire. festival, please follow Club Passim’s normal booking procedures, and include a note that you are interested in playing at the campfire. festival.

  5. How much do artists get paid?

Payment varies per show based on ticket price, number of acts on the bill, audience, and many other factors. This is worked out at the time of booking.
