Join teaching artist Avi Salloway for an uplifting musical journey through Songs of Hope & Resistance. The power of song is infinite, carrying us through dark times and helping us shape the world we wish to build. Music has fueled social movements for centuries and it’s needed now more than ever. As political, social, and technological pressures pull us apart, this class invites you to lean into community, lift your spirit, and learn inspiring songs that help us transcend and transform.
Together, we’ll explore music by Pete Seeger, Bob Marley, Nina Simone, Jesse Welles, Manu Chao, and more. Participants will also build songleading skills, whether you’re guiding a few friends or energizing thousands.
This ensemble class welcomes all instruments and vocalists. We’ll create arrangements, pass around verses, adding harmonies and improvisation. We’ll share stories about the music, enjoy good company, and raise our voices with powerful songs!
