Tim Eriksen is a songwriter who has been covered by Alison Krauss, Bonny “Prince” Billy and Joan Baez, a ballad singer awarded the Jean Ritchie Musical Heritage Award by Ritchie herself, a prominent shapenote singer whose work appears in The Sacred Harp and a hardcore punk musician with a degree in South Indian veena.
Eriksen’s film work includes the Oscar winning Cold Mountain and indie-horror phenomenon The Outwaters. His 2026 solo performances will bring together a range of sounds from his multiple musical lives: traditional banjo, fiddle and song from New England and southern Appalachia, family music from ex-Jugoslavia, new music for fretless bajo sexto and songs for fretless banjo developed for his collaboration with pianist Omar Sosa. Eriksen’s last release was the 2012 album “Josh Billings’ Voyage,” only available via geocashing and serendipitous discovery in hidden places around the world.
