Rachel McCartney
Rachel McCartney is releasing a new album, Taming Dragons, and sharing it at Club Passim feels like a true homecoming. McCartney celebrated her previous record release at Passim seventeen years ago, while very pregnant with her now teenage son. If you were hanging out in Boston in the early 2000s, it’s likely you’re no stranger to McCartney’s music. She spent her nights playing local and regional venues and her mornings busking for hours at a time in the subway stations. After stepping back from music to fully commit to her career as a labor and delivery nurse, McCartney is back on the scene with a new record and over a decade of stories to share. Taming Dragons was produced by Zach Hickman and along with Zach, features musical contributions by Rich Hinman, Dave Brophy, and James Rohr, along with harmony vocals by Rose Polenzani, Vivian Sessoms, and McCartney’s long-time collaborator and friend Teddy Goldstein, who will kick off the night’s festivities.
Teddy Goldstein
Teddy Goldstein is known as much for his clever songs – whether sensitive or comedic – as for his energetic and unpredictable shows.
Originally from outside of Philadelphia, Teddy attended Boston University’s theater program before moving on to Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Teddy has released four independent records and one album with the group, “Live From New York” with Edie Carey, Anne Heaton, and Andrew Kerr. Teddy’s music has been heard on such T.V. shows as NBC’s Meet My Folks, The WB’s Everwood, Summerland, and Felicity, as well as CBS’s The Unit and NPR’s Car Talk.
Music Festivals & Stages: Teddy is a regular at NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall, The Cutting Room, The Bitter and Boston’s Club Passim. He has performed at The Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and The Kennedy Center.
As a songwriter Teddy has had publishing deals with, Spirit Music Group, Cherry Lane Music and BMG. In 2004, Teddy received a Gold Record for his song “Maria” on the Album Lovers Forever by Marshall and Alexander. Over the years Teddy has shared stages with artists such as Marshall Crenshaw, Dan Bern, Todd Snider, Ellis Paul, Lucy Kaplansky and Steve Forbert.
