Effective August 6, 2021, Passim will require all staff, performers, and patrons to show proof of COVID-19 vaccine when they work, attend performances, classes, and workshops at Passim.  Patrons will be asked to show their vaccination card or a photo of their vaccination card when they enter the club.  Patrons will be asked to show proof each time they visit the club. If a patron is not able to show proof of vaccination they will not be allowed to attend the performance, and their ticket purchase will be refunded.

During COVID, Passim has invested in its live stream capability, and we encourage patrons who have not been vaccinated or others who don’t feel comfortable yet visiting the club to watch the live streams or attend online classes instead. If you purchased a ticket but aren’t feeling well, please stay home and watch the livestream instead.

Effective September 3, 2021, the City of Cambridge has issued an emergency order requiring that face masks or coverings be worn in indoor public places.  Patrons and staff must wear masks at Passim unless actively eating or drinking.  Artists may remove masks when performing and will maintain a 6-ft distance from the audience.  Visit https://www.cambridgema.gov/covid19/facecoverings for full information on the Cambridge mask mandate.

Passim is committed to providing a safe environment for all to work, listen, and enjoy live music.  It is our hope that we can ease these restrictions once further progress has been made reducing transmission of the virus.  Until then, we appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Grammy-nominated, and “one of America’s premier fiddling talents” (Mother Jones), Bruce’s take on tradition has landed him in collaborations with some of the world’s most highly respected players from roots to rock. He is a special guest on legend rocker Mark Knopfler’s recent CD, “Tracker.” His 1865 Songs of Hope & Home with Anonymous 4, was on Billboard’s top 10 for weeks, the third record with Andy Irvine & Donal Lunny’s supergroup Mozaik is in the works, and you can see Bruce on the BBC TV Transatlantic Sessions Videos with Aly Bain and Jerry Douglas, and on “David Holt’s State of Music” airing nationally.

His new trio, Molsky’s Mountain Drifters includes banjo virtuoso Allison de Groot and genre-defying Stash Wyslouch on guitar. Their self-titled CD has been released to great acclaim and their new release this spring topped the Folk-DJ charts. Berklee College of Music has made Bruce their Visiting Scholar in the American Roots Music Program where Bruce is the go-to guy for the next generation of roots musicians.

“Performing and teaching traditional music is the biggest thing in my world. For me, being a musician isn’t a standalone thing; it informs everything I do in my life. It’s always been about being creative and being a part of something much bigger than myself, a link in the musical chain and part of the community of people who play it and love it.” –Bruce Molsky

Allison de Groot combines love for old-time music, technical skill and a creative approach to the banjo forming her own sound – unique and full of personality.  Although firmly rooted in old-time and music, she has shown her ability to collaborate and create outside this genre, pushing the boundaries of the clawhammer banjo.

Allison has toured all over the world with various groups, performing at venues such as Newport Folk Festival, Stockholm Folk Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival and Tønder Festival in Denmark.  The music scene in her hometown of Winnipeg, Canada, immersion in Appalachian old-time communities, a performance degree at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and touring extensively throughout North America and Europe have all had a great impact on her playing. She is dedicated to honoring old-time music, the community that music creates and exploring the clawhammer banjo style. She is currently performing with Bruce Molsky’s new project Molsky’s Mountain Drifters and The Goodbye Girls, among others.
