As you may have heard by now, this month is our June fundraiser with the catchy theme, More To Explore. At Passim, there are so many different things to explore and experience that sets us apart from other venues and organizations, which includes our membership feature! Tonight @ 8 pm we have Eric Kilburn and @sueradnerhorowitz! Eric Kilburn played extensively throughout the eastern United States in the late 80’s and early 90’s, and released 4 acclaimed albums. He’s played on Passim’s stage over 40 times, both as a headliner and opening for the likes of Tracy Chapman, Shawn Colvin, Eric Andersen and others. Sue Horowitz is an award-winning Folk/Americana and Spiritual music artist. Her latest album- her 5th, “Strings, Wings and Curious Things” debuted at #3 on the FAI radio charts, charted at #2 and #4 for a single “January”, and #4 as an artist. Sue considers being a singer songwriter to be “the best job in the world”.

We are delighted to have @suziebrownsongs & @scots

We are delighted to have @suziebrownsongs & @scotsax and @lisabastoni @ 8 pm here tonight! In “Sometimes Your Dreams Find You,” Suzie Brown sings about reimagining your life’s path, and leaning into the unexpected turns. It’s a vivid, hopeful song, driven by Brown’s stirring voice that has been compared to Patsy Cline and Patty Griffin. Lisa Bastoni is a genuine artist. Her articulate songs come from the soul, and resonate in the heart. She debuted her new album and a few other gorgeous songs last night with her producer, consummate musician Sean Staples. How We Want To Live is a deep and powerful album, and an affirmation of her triumph in the 2019 Kerrville New Folk Festival contest.

Today we welcome @jessyedmusic for our first show of the Kendall Square Series! Club Passim brings FREE live music to the Urban Park Roof Garden weekly on Wednesdays from June 7th to August 30th from 12pm – 1pm. Jessye DeSilva (they/them)’s new, crowdfunded album, Renovations, chronicles an ongoing, imperfect journey to self-love and -acceptance, full of both moments of resignation and moments of triumph. DeSilva, a non-binary, trans person and the child of a preacher whose conservative religion left no room for their personhood, examines identity and trauma and reckons with privilege and marginalization across 11 songs that draw from both their classical vocal training and work as a voice teacher and their love of ‘90s emo and pop-rock. Bring a picnic and some friends and join us for a good time! All concerts are FREE and open to the public. The Garden can be accessed by taking the stairs from main street or by using the Green Garage elevator.

Join us for An Evening with @joyaskewmusic, @laurenbalthropmusic, & @_oropendola tonight @ 8 pm! Joy Askew has enjoyed an embellished career playing alongside music icons such as Peter Gabriel, Laurie Anderson, Joe Jackson, Rodney Crowell, Jack Bruce and Quincy Jones. Now as a re-invented musical poet she has been a dedicated songwriter since the late nineties and her ninth album as an artist, Everything Is Different, was released in May 2022.

A folk-pop singer/songwriter in the lineage of Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell, and Carole King, Lauren Balthrop makes captivating, candid music propelled by her crystalline voice. Her “bell-clear vocals” and sophisticated, folk-leaning pop songwriting have earned her praise from major music publications across the country, including Stereogum and Audio Femme.

Joanna Schubert, the Brooklyn-based singer/keyboardist/composer/arranger behind Oropendola, creates kaleidoscopic chamber pop filled to the brim with energy and emotion. Her debut full-length album, Waiting for the Sky to Speak will be released on March 17th, 2023. It is an imaginative and colorful chimera of a collection peppered with the raw theatricality of Kate Bush and FKA Twigs; the off-kilter humor of Miranda July; the surrealism of Alice in Wonderland; and the melodic core of Joanna’s childhood soundtrack (90s pop, jazz standards, and the Beatles).
