Emma Blackman is a singer-songwriter from New Jersey and currently residing in Harlem. She plays piano, accordion, mandolin, and saxophone. From an early age, she had an active imagination and a love of writing, from short stories to lyrics and poetry. This love has carried on into her adult life as a songwriter and a published poet. She also grew up behind the piano, which fostered her musical ear and a passion for composition. Once she started playing piano, she played any instrument she could get her hands on.

Emma just graduated from Oberlin College, where she was a frequent and well-known performer. She has played at the Cat in the Cream and the Slow Train Cafe on campus as well as the Sidewalk Cafe in New York City and the Tree House Lounge and Gypsy Sally’s in DC. In September 2016, she opened for Lucy Wainwright Roche. In April 2017, she opened for Mariachi Flor de Toloache and Les Poules à Colin at Oberlin’s Folk Fest. Emma has led workshops for singer-songwriters and acoustic performers at Oberlin, including women and trans specific workshops. She also helped coordinate performances that highlight local songwriting talent.
