Get ready for a unique chance to dive deep into traditional American fiddle music! In this course for beginner and intermediate fiddlers, we’ll be learning a number of fun, hypnotic, and beautiful fiddle tunes. We’ll be focusing on traditional fiddling from the southern Appalachian mountains, whose roots lie in African, European, and Native American musical traditions. Together, we’ll be learning tunes by ear and slowed down videos will be available of each tune to help with practice. Through these tunes, we’ll improve our ear training, technique, tone, rhythm, and style. This will be a great chance to geek out on fiddle music and history!

Prerequisites: Some experience on the violin/fiddle. A basic knowledge of how to hold the fiddle and some basic scales will be very helpful!

This class will be held from 6:30-7:45pm ET on Wednesdays, March 6, 13, 20, 27, April 3 (makeup: April 10)
