This event takes place at First Parish in Cambridge, Unitarian Universalist, 1446 Massachusetts Avenue.

Live forever in audio form! by attending the MAGIC IS REAL! LIVE ALBUM RECORDING for Justine Bowe’s Boston-based project, photocomfort. The evening will feature a performance of a new collection of harp-based songs, storytelling about magic and the mysterious from community members, and accompaniment from the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Choir and a live ensemble. The recordings will be featured on Spotify, Youtube, and wherever you get your music.

“Picture Simon & Garfunkel Live in Central Park but with harp recorded in a historic Harvard Square church looking out over Cambridge’s nearly four-hundred-year-old Old Burying Ground on the night before Halloween where we will explore themes of magic and spiritual possibility while the veil between worlds is thinnest,” said Bowe, without taking a breath.

This evening is presented as Bowe’s culminating project for Passim’s Folk Collective and is produced with the support of Passim.

All tickets have a $3 processing fee and a $2 preservation fee. The $3 processing fee is waived for tickets purchased at our box office.

Photocomfort is the platform for Boston-based artist Justine Bowe’s careful, expansive pop. Photocomfort is the distillation of the exacting songwriting, production and performance craftsmanship she lends to other recording projects like Hex Girlfriend, Anjimile, and Cliff Notez. Stepping away from moody pop and humorous self-portraits, her latest album, to be recorded live in front of an audience within the sanctuary of her church, will feature Bowe not on keyboard or synthesizer, but on harp, acoustic and often solo or accompanied by her church choir. The new collection of songs, MAGIC IS REAL! explores fantasy, spiritual possibility, and the supernatural with songs that feel at home played on the porch, a slumber party, or in the pulpit.
