Leo Blanco is a composer, pianist, and musicologist blending South American rhythms, African heritage, jazz, and European classical music into a powerful, original sound. From sharing stages with legends like Pat Metheny, Terence Blanchard, and Chucho Valdés to performing at Montreux, Newport, and North Sea Jazz, this Venezuelan virtuoso blends Afro-Caribbean rhythms, European classical traditions, and contemporary jazz into “stunningly virtuosic” performances. Born in the Andes and shaped by El Sistema, Blanco rose from the Mérida Youth Symphony to Berklee and New England Conservatory, building a dual reputation as performer and scholar.
