Victoria Wasylak

Victoria Wasylak is an award-winning journalist and music critic from Boston, Massachusetts. As Music Editor, Boston, of Vanyaland, she documents the triumphs of artists from Massachusetts, New England, and around the globe.

Victoria’s 1,000-plus articles for Vanyaland peel back layers of sociopolitical perspective on the best damn new music, whether an artist has four Spotify followers or four million. Her criticism and witticisms amplify the musicians and movements shaping the landscape of today’s music industry. (Although, on rare occasions, she’s not above panning a Justin Bieber remix or two).

When she’s not furiously scribbling show reviews in her notebook at TD Garden, she’s on the phone with some of the best entertainers of our time, from Lizzo to Shirley Manson, Peter Wolf to Carrie Brownstein.

She was named “Music Journalist of the Year” at the Boston Music Awards in 2019 and 2021 for her extensive work with Vanyaland. She also writes episodes of Disgraceland, the #1 most-downloaded music podcast in the world.

Outside of journalism, Victoria is a professional member of the Recording Academy and works as the Assistant Vice Chair of Membership and Communications for the Boston chapter of Women in Music.

Victoria holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Boston University’s College of Communication. She currently resides North of Boston, where the rent is cheaper.
