Kathleen Parks

Kathleen Parks

Kathleen Parks is a native of New York’s Hudson Valley and moved to Boston to begin her studies at Berklee in the fall of 2012. Since graduating in 2017 with a bachelors degree in Violin Performance and Songwriting, she has released a total of 6 albums including 5 with original material, and has co-founded and toured both nationally and internationally with Twisted Pine fronting as lead singer, songwriter, and the band’s five stringed fiddler. Singing and playing as well as “chopping” – the percussive technique you’ll hear from the fiddle and mandolin – have become integral parts of the Twisted Pine sound. Kathleenhas worked to grow from the influence of musical heroes Casey Driessen, and Darol Anger to use this technique as accompaniment under her voice as well as bring out her instrument’s intricate melody lines to sway and pull with her vocal soaring and scatting. Even while on the road Kathleen has taught around the country both privately, in person, or via Zoom, and has taught group ensembles at fiddle camps including the Ossipee Valley String Camp, and at Club Passim School of Music since 2017. As a soloist, she considers herself more than fortunate to have performed in spaces such as Boston’s magnificent Symphony Hall, Rhode Island’s ‘Newport Folk Festival’ backing Margo Price and Aoife O’Donovan, and most recently in the studio fiddling on Paula Cole’s latest release, American Quilt.
