Asheville Mountain Boys

Asheville Mountain Boys

The Asheville Mountain Boys are a traditional bluegrass band based out of Asheville, North Carolina. Located in the mountains of Western North Carolina, a region rich with bluegrass and string band history, the band draws its musical influences from the bluegrass of the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. The Asheville Mountain Boys offer people a way to hear a contemporary bluegrass band do old-school bluegrass material, and their originals center on timeless narratives that feature the same sort of powerful storytelling you hear in the traditional bluegrass recordings we know and love. Upon return from an international tour in Japan, The Asheville Mountain Boys recently released their debut album featuring their original songwriting alongside some of their favorite lesser known traditional bluegrass numbers. They’ve introduced their slogan as “No plugs, No pedals, Only bluegrass.” While they don’t have anything against pedals or modern electronics, they want to highlight the intimacy and energy of traditional bluegrass performed closer to how our favorite old acts did it!
