- School of Music class
*THIS IS AN ONLINE CLASS*
John Prine is an American folk hero! He had a way of chronicling the human condition with his iconic lyrics, stories, humor, and simple song structures. Join us for this ensemble class and together we’ll celebrate the life of John Prine through learning his timeless songs and carrying on the tradition. We’ll play a collection of his material spanning his career from “Paradise” and “Angel from Montgomery,” to “Souvenirs” and “The Tree of Forgiveness
This ensemble welcomes all instruments and vocalists. As a group we’ll create arrangements, pass around verses, adding harmony and improvisation. We’ll reflect on John Prine’s beautiful and enduring songs and what they mean to us. John has been a huge inspiration to me and I look forward to keeping his spirit and songs alive with y’all!
When I die let my ashes float down the Green River
Let my soul roll on up to the Rochester dam
Be halfway to heaven with Paradise waiting
Just five miles away from wherever I am
