  • Americana
  • Folk
  • School of Music class
  • Singer/Songwriter

This course will function primarily as a workshop, where students can bring drafts and ideas for critique and help, but will also explore a variety of topics including lyric rhythm, song forms, models, and exercises to aid in the creative process. We will discuss our favorite songs, what goes into making them so great, and how to borrow some of those techniques in our own writing. We will also talk a great deal about the writing process and how to combat writer’s block by experimenting with creative exercises.

Whether you’re new to songwriting, or have a few years experience, all are welcome!

Liv Greene is a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy where she majored in Songwriting and vocal performance, and is currently a student at New England Conservatory as well as a student of the rich New England folk scene. Over the past 9 years that she has been writing, Liv has been privileged to attend workshops and take songwriting courses with Mark Simos, Patty Griffin, Teddy Thompson, Hankus Netsky, Laura Cortese, Dietrich Strause, and many others and has learned a great deal from this rich variety of artists about songwriting.
