Songwriter’s Study Group
- School of Music class
*THIS IS AN ONLINE CLASS*
“Songwriting is like panning for gold, most of the time you’re going to get weird rocks, and only some of the time you’ll get gold, but the important part is you show up to the river day after day.”
Are you a songwriter with a desire to write more? Are you excited by the idea of finding inspiration via in-class writing exercises and prompts? Do you want to be part of a weekly group where you and other like-minded songwriters can share drafts, experiment, and reflect? If you answered yes to these questions, consider signing up for Songwriter’s Study Gorup and joining in on our community “weird rock” show and tell. Unlike a standard lecture style course, our weekly class will function primarily as a writers group, meaning it will provide students with prompt assignments as well as in-class space to share and work on material. Songwriting is like panning for gold, most of the time you’re going to get weird rocks, and only some of the time you’ll get gold, but the important part is you show up to the river day after day.
Each meeting we will spend part of the time doing creative exercises, with the remainder of class time reserved for sharing. I aim to make our Zoom room a safe space for writers of all levels and backgrounds to share and experiment comfortably– so bring an open mind and a playful spirit, along with your brilliant creative self, of course!
This class will be held from 6:30-7:45pm on Tuesdays, Jan. 5, 12, 26, Feb. 2, 9, 16
