Song Revision: Seeing Again
- School of Music workshop
*THIS IS AN ONLINE WORKSHOP*
Revision – or “seeing again” – is a chance to step back from our song and reflect on the picture we’re painting. How can we keep our gaze kind and curious through this process? Are we willing to lean into the most communicative and evocative parts of the song, willing to explore that they might lead us to an entirely different song than we intended? What if the song was in present tense? What if we changed the order of the verses? How do we practice non-attachment and stay present through this dance? What does it mean to explore beyond the song that we thought we were writing? How do we know where and when to stop? All “levels” are welcome, but this workshop will be most beneficial to folks who have finished at least one song. I will share examples from my own songwriting and revision process – and you will be invited (but not expected) to share from yours – as we explore this topic together!
This two-hour workshop will be held Sunday, August 29th from 1:00-3:00pm ET ONLINE.
