ONLINE: Introduction to Irish Traditional Fiddle

Designed for violinists, violists, and fiddle players of varying musical backgrounds, this class will explore the introductory elements of Irish traditional fiddle playing. Each session, students will learn tunes from Irish traditional repertoire and will have the opportunity to play together. We will also dive into the beginning essentials of ornamentation and bowing.As part of the online experience, students will receive recordings of the tunes and sheet music to help everyone learn at their own pace. Basic proficiency on fiddle, violin, or viola is required.

This class will be held from 6:30-7:45pm ET on Wednesdays, Aug 10, 17, 24, 31

Please note: Limited to 12 online students; Pre-sales are highly encouraged! Sales end 1 hour before the class begins. 3 students are required for this class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be notified and receive a full refund.

Christine Delphine Hedden is an artist who draws upon many wells: traditional, classical and contemporary. She is a composer, a fiddle player and violist, a percussive dancer, an improviser and a storyteller in word and song. Her debut solo album, “When the Aster Blooms” is a diverse storybook of original tunes and songs, inspired by her native New England folk music and her love of Irish traditional music.
