Gospel Song Ensemble
- A capella
- School of Music class
Come join Emily Baker in exploring the illustrious songs of the gospel! Each week we will learn a new gospel song (taken from the bluegrass tradition,) integrate harmonies with the melody, and discuss the history behind the song, where its origins lie, and who was the first to perform it in a non-religious setting. Feel free to also bring one of your favorite gospel songs along with you and co-teach it to the class with Emily. If you are an instrumentalist, please bring it along with you to the first class as we will perform each song together fully arranged at the end of each class! This will be an collaborative student & teacher course, which will give you the opportunity to work more closely with some new and/or old friends that have a specific interest in the songs of the gospel!
This is a four-week ensemble that will run from 8:00-9:15pm on Tuesdays: July 10, 17, 24, 31
Please note: The Passim School of Music is located at 26 Church St. Cambridge, MA. Classrooms are located on the third floor and, unfortunately, we do not have an elevator.
