Fingerstyle Guitar 102

  • Acoustic
  • Guitar
  • Instrumental
  • School of Music class

Let’s explore the easy way to fingerstyle a guitar, from one finger to two, to three to 4. One finger at a time!. This gentle class will foster a sense of relaxed effortlessness by getting rid of tension, observing proper ergonomics, and moving very patiently and gradually from very basic to more sophisticated patterns of fingerstyle guitar. Patterns taken from the traditions of Folk, Blues, Classical, Country, will offer a wide array of colors, moods, and textures. The end result will be simple, but musical guitar ensemble pieces . ( Let’s grow this into Passim’s GuitarChestra!)

102: For those with a basic familiarity with TAb reading and chord passing. ( how is that C to the Thumbed F chord change doing?). This class will review basics( Never forget!) and eventually free up the thumb from that Predictable alternat bass pattern. This will lead into richer patterns seen in classical, Brazilian, Jazz &  contemporary fingerstyle.

Basic notions of Harmony will inform beautiful studies that will not only teach fingerstyle but will bring about an awareness of the fingerboard’s organization.

This class will be held from 8:00-9:15pm on Wednesdays: March 11, 18, 25, April 1, 8, 15.
