- School of Music workshop
*THIS IS AN ONLINE WORKSHOP*
Learn how to speak on your instrument in an idiomatic way using vernacular dialects to explore regional styles from Scotland and beyond. Using dance rhythms found in traditional and non-traditional music, we explore the possibilities of different approaches to rhythm on bowed stringed instruments. Learn how to make your tune come alive by becoming a better dance fiddler, and also how to be a part of the rhythm section and contribute to the group as a more well-rounded ensemble musician. We will then develop an arrangement incorporating melody, rhythm, harmony, ‘horn’ parts, counterpoint, improvisation and more.
This workshop will be held from 2:00pm – 4:00pm ET on Monday, Jan. 18th.
Please note: Pre-sales are highly encouraged! Sales end 15 minutes before the class begins. 3 students are required for this class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be notified and receive a full refund.
