Coping With Chaos – A Fiddle Workshop with Ryan McKasson

In this workshop I’d like to explore how to not just play the notes of a tune, but how to use music as a bridge to your soul. I will teach this via a fiddle and will be focused on the fiddle, but anyone is welcome to come. I will a teach a tune most likely, but I don’t want to get stuck on it too much. This is perhaps a little different than a normal fiddle class in that I’d like to stay as much as possible in the realm of pure expression, not get lost in the form, and try to get this complicated act of playing the violin to be a fluid means of communicating the language of the heart. This class will be most helpful for those with a healthy experience of playing a musical instrument, especially the fiddle/violin. Players of any instrument, style or background are welcome, as are auditors.

This workshop runs for two hours.

Please note: The Passim School of Music is located at 26 Church St. Cambridge, MA. Classrooms are located on the third floor and, unfortunately, we do not have an elevator.

Limited to 7 students (16 yrs of age or older); 3 students are required for class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund.
