Bluegrass Rhythm Guitar: The Basics and Beyond
Learn the basics of bluegrass rhythm guitar with Brooklyn-based guitarist Jason Borisoff. We’ll start with a discussion of some key technical elements necessary for solid rhythm playing including basic chord shapes commonly used in bluegrass, the rest-stroke, and the alternating bass or “boom/chuck” rhythm style. From there we will cover some G-run variations as well as how, where, and why to employ them.
Other topics include:
● Developing an effective practice routine
● Posture, support, and relaxed technique
● Rhythm guitar in related styles like swing and old-time
● Chord inversions up the neck
● Syncopation
● Dynamics, musicality, and listening
All ages and experience levels welcome.

This workshop is part of the Down Home Up Here Festival and runs from 2-4pm.
