Beginning Mandolin

  • Instrumental
  • School of Music class

In Beginning Mandolin, we’ll take our knowledge of the foundations of mandolin playing and use it to further expand our musical horizons. This class is based around learning tunes from roots music traditions originating in North America and Europe and discussing how we play these tunes on the mandolin. Come ready to learn a batch of tunes you (hopefully) don’t know yet! We’ll also talk about furthering technique on the mandolin, with concepts including tremolo, double stops, and perhaps some improv. Class will be taught by ear, with handouts provided afterwards. You should know how to hold the mandolin, use a pick, basic knowledge of scales, and have a couple tunes under your belt to get the most out of this class.

This class runs from 6:30-7:45pm and will be held on Mondays July 6, 13, 20, 27, Aug. 3, 10.

Please note: Limited to 8 students (16 yrs of age or older); Pre-sales are highly encouraged! Sales end 15 minutes before the class begins. 3 students are required for this class to meet. If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be notified and receive a full refund.
