Charlie McDermott is the Director of Finance and Operations at the Fayerweather Street School in Cambridge. Before Fayerweather, Charlie worked for more than 25 years in the fields of grant-making and arts administration, including 20 years as Deputy Director of the Massachusetts Cultural Council. He has also held positions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the National Arts Stabilization Fund, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Garden in Vancouver, B.C., and several public radio stations. Charlie joined the board of Passim in 2012. In addition to Passim, he is currently on the board of EmcArts in New York and TDC in Boston. He is also the past board treasurer of Fayerweather Street School and the Foundation for Faces of Children. He holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management. Charlie lives in Cambridge with his wife Patricia Flaherty, and daughters Clare (14) and Amelia (12). He’s a piano player and is fond of playing with family friends in a group that sometimes goes by the name Dogs in a Pile. Favorite musicians include Bruce Cockburn, Richard Thompson, Randy Newman, Ry Cooder, The Band, Anais Mitchell, Michael Chorney, Karan Casey, Solas, Abdullah Ibrahim, and Jonathan Richman… to name a few!
