Effective August 6, 2021, Passim will require all staff, performers, and patrons to show proof of COVID-19 vaccine when they work, attend performances, classes, and workshops at Passim. Patrons will be asked to show their vaccination card or a photo of their vaccination card when they enter the club. Patrons will be asked to show proof each time they visit the club. If a patron is not able to show proof of vaccination they will not be allowed to attend the performance, and their ticket purchase will be refunded.

During COVID, Passim has invested in its live stream capability, and we encourage patrons who have not been vaccinated or others who don’t feel comfortable yet visiting the club to watch the live streams or attend online classes instead. If you purchased a ticket but aren’t feeling well, please stay home and watch the livestream instead.

Effective September 3, 2021, the City of Cambridge has issued an emergency order requiring that face masks or coverings be worn in indoor public places. Patrons and staff must wear masks at Passim unless actively eating or drinking. Artists may remove masks when performing and will maintain a 6-ft distance from the audience. Visit www.cambridgema.gov/covid19/facecoverings for full information on the Cambridge mask mandate.

Passim is committed to providing a safe environment for all to work, listen, and enjoy live music. It is our hope that we can ease these restrictions once further progress has been made reducing transmission of the virus. Until then, we appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Lisa Bastoni

Lisa Bastoni is a genuine artist.  Her articulate songs come from the soul, and resonate in the heart.  She debuted her new album and a few other gorgeous songs last night with her producer, consummate musician Sean Staples.  How We Want To Live is a deep and powerful album, and an affirmation of her triumph in the 2019 Kerrville New Folk Festival contest.  When you hear Lisa perform, you can’t help but draw a parallel between her songs and those of another New England treasure, Lori McKenna.  Bastoni masters the same narrative beauty and poignancy in her compositions, and similarly balances demands of motherhood and career gracefully.  The song, “Beautiful Girl,“ written for her daughter, is reflective of that — and Lisa Bastoni herself.

A beloved fixture in the Boston music scene for more than 25 years, Tim Gearan has become a bonafide local music hero. His warm, raspy baritone, jaw-dropping guitar skills and wry, poignant songwriting have graced the bars, pubs, and music halls throughout New England, creating a loyal cult-like following.

Gearan, a New York native, started his career as a lead blues guitarist, spending ten years touring as a sideman for the great Toni Lynn Washington, as well as collaborating with the Grammy-winning singer/guitarist Susan Tedeschi. Finding his own artistic voice, Gearan settled in Somerville and began writing and performing on his own, crafting an intoxicating blend of Americana, folk and blues with shades of Randy Newman, Tom Waits, JJ Cale, Leon Russell and Lowell George. He quickly established himself as a force in the Boston’s resurgent roots music scene, and his Boston area residencies have become a “can’t miss” staple of the city’s nightlife.
