Down Home Up Here Workshop: Songwriting in Bluegrass
- School of Music workshop
In this workshop we’ll talk about developing a practice of songwriting. We’ll explore a few writing exercises and habits you can build a routine with, or work into your existing one. We’ll also take a look into the editing process, and how to put the finishing touches on your song to make it feel complete. We’ll explore ways to fine tune your song to make it have the effect you are looking for. We’ll do some in-class writing, look at some example songs, and 1-2 participants will be able to share songs-in-progress and get feedback from the class. Taught by Brooklyn-based songwriter Andrea Asprelli, winner of the Podunk Bluegrass Songwriting Competition and bandleader/songwriter for FreshGrass Award winners Cricket Tell the Weather.
This workshop is part of the Down Home Up Here Festival.
Workshops fees are seperate from your festival ticket.
