Redbird is the name of the loose affiliation of critically acclaimed songwriters Kris Delmhorst, Jeffrey Foucault, and Peter Mulvey, with guitarist David Goodrich. More a moveable feast than a band, the trio has recorded two albums together over the last decade, convening occasionally on stages around the country and overseas to trade songs, jokes, and instruments around a few microphones. Three touring musicians with distinct careers and diverse catalogs, Redbird brings an improvised session to the stage, a musical conversation as likely to include Ray Charles as Prince, and Hazel Dickens as Duke Ellington; a love letter to American music across genres and generations. Each Redbird show captures the spark and intimacy of a late night hotel room guitar pull, letting the audience pull up a chair and hear the songs that musicians play for each other.
