The Henry Girls are fast becoming one of the most talked about folk/roots acts to come out of Ireland in the last decade , and within a few years have developed a growing international profile in Europe, North America and further afield. Hailing from the picturesque village of Malin in the Inishowen Peninsula, County Donegal, they have a unique sound which blends classic Traditional Irish Folk music with a hint of Americana, a nod to bluegrass and many more besides. The Henry Girls are renowned for their fine close harmonies and musical arrangements, and have been likened to many other harmonizing siblings such as The McGarrigle Sisters, The Andrews Sisters and The Everly Brothers. Their sound also reflects the influences of such great musical acts as Crosby, Stills & Nash, the Dixie Chicks, The Be Good Tanyas, The Indigo Girls, Alison Krauss, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Tom Waits and many more.
Before Jennifer Kimball and Ry Cavanaugh got married, they had a band called Maybe Baby. The band flips the finger to folk music traditions while at the same time honoring its virtues -- first-rate songwriting, great melodies and harmony singing. Led by singer-songwriters Jennifer Kimball (the Story) and Ry Cavanaugh (Session Americana, Vinyl Avenue String Band), the Cambridge-based group pushes folk's acoustic envelope with the contrast of Kimball's pop yin to Cavanaugh's mountain influenced yang and his baritone guitar, providing a variety of colors rarely heard outside the realm of textural rock.
